Email alerts
Sends an email when an IP address is locked out and when an administrator signs in, so you hear about both without watching a dashboard.
What it does
Two events, straight to your inbox
Email alerts is a Vectro security feature that emails you when an IP address is locked out and when an administrator signs in, including the IP address and username involved in each event.
This feature emails you on two specific events. The first is a lockout: when the login attempt limiter blocks an IP address, you get a message with the address, how many attempts it made, the username it tried and how long the lockout lasts. The second is an administrator login: whenever an administrator account signs in successfully, you get the username, the IP address and the time.
Alerts go to your WordPress administrator email address by default, and you can point them somewhere else – a shared mailbox, or an address that reaches you outside working hours.
It is deliberately limited to two events. Security tooling that emails constantly gets filtered, and a rule that hides your alerts is worse than no alerts.
Why it matters
The admin login alert is the one that matters
Lockout alerts tell you that automated attacks are being blocked, which is reassuring and occasionally useful for spotting a sustained campaign against one account.
The administrator login alert is the one worth paying attention to. If you receive a message saying an admin signed in from an address you do not recognise, at a time you were not working, you have found a compromise within minutes rather than whenever someone happens to notice defaced content. Compromised sites often go unnoticed for weeks, and that gap is where most of the damage happens.

Technical detail
How the mail is sent
Alerts are sent through wp_mail, the standard WordPress mail function. On a default install that hands off to the server mail transport, which many hosts either do not configure or actively rate limit. If your site cannot send reliable email, these alerts will be unreliable too.
If alerts do not arrive, install an SMTP plugin and route wp_mail through an authenticated mail service. This is worth doing regardless, since password reset emails depend on the same path.

Runs alongside everything
No conflicts detected. Vectro runs this feature regardless of other plugins active.
Questions
Frequently asked
What do Vectro security email alerts notify me about?
Vectro sends an email on two events: when the login attempt limiter locks out an IP address, and when an administrator account signs in successfully. Each message includes the IP address. Lockout alerts add the attempt count and username tried, and admin login alerts add the username and time.
Do Vectro email alerts work alongside other security plugins?
Vectro runs this feature regardless of other plugins active, because no conflicts are detected for it. Lockout alerts do require the Vectro login attempt limiter to be enabled, since that is what triggers them.
How do I set up security email alerts in Vectro?
Go to Vectro > Security in wp-admin, toggle Email Alerts on, then set the recipient address or leave it blank to use the WordPress admin email. Enable the login attempt limiter as well if you want lockout alerts.
Are Vectro email alerts free or Pro?
Yes, Vectro email alerts is free. It is included in the free Vectro plugin on WordPress.org with no account required.
Why am I not receiving Vectro security alert emails?
Most often the site cannot send mail reliably, because wp_mail hands off to a server transport that many hosts do not configure or actively rate limit. Route wp_mail through an SMTP service, which also fixes password reset emails.
