Disable Dashicons
Stops loading the Dashicons icon font for logged-out visitors, saving around 30KB per page for the public side of your site.
What it does
Keeps the admin icon font out of public pages
Disable Dashicons is a Vectro performance feature that dequeues the Dashicons stylesheet for logged-out visitors only, saving around 30KB per page while leaving the icon set available to logged-in users in wp-admin.
Dashicons is the icon font WordPress uses throughout wp-admin and in the admin bar. It is loaded on the front end as well, because a logged-in user might see the admin bar there.
For a logged-out visitor there is no admin bar, so the font is downloaded and never used. This feature dequeues it for logged-out visitors only. Logged-in users still get it, and wp-admin is completely unaffected.
One caution matters here. Some themes use Dashicons in their front-end design – for menu arrows, social icons or search buttons. If yours does, those icons will disappear for visitors.
Why it matters
Thirty kilobytes for nothing, on every public page
The Dashicons stylesheet is roughly 30KB and, unlike a script, a font stylesheet is render-blocking: the browser will not paint text that depends on it until it has loaded. Paying that on every public page for an icon set the visitor cannot see is pure waste.
It is one of the larger single savings available among the asset-trimming features, which is why it is worth the two minutes of checking your theme before enabling it.

Technical detail
How the condition is applied
Vectro checks whether the current request has a logged-in user and dequeues the dashicons stylesheet handle only when it does not. Because the check is per request, a logged-in editor browsing the front end still receives the font and sees the admin bar rendered correctly.
This is a dequeue of the WordPress-registered handle. A theme that loads Dashicons under its own handle, or links the font directly in a template, is not affected by this setting.

Questions
Frequently asked
What does disabling Dashicons on the frontend do?
Disabling Dashicons stops the WordPress admin icon font loading for logged-out visitors, saving around 30KB per page. Logged-in users still receive it so the admin bar renders correctly.
Does Vectro disable Dashicons work with Perfmatters?
Vectro keeps removing Dashicons when Perfmatters is active, because Perfmatters is not mapped against this feature. If you also remove Dashicons in Perfmatters, the stylesheet is simply dequeued twice with the same result. Vectro does step aside for Asset CleanUp.
How do I disable Dashicons in WordPress with Vectro?
Go to Vectro > Performance in wp-admin, toggle Disable Dashicons on, then clear your page cache. Compare your site in a private window afterwards to check that no theme icons have turned into empty boxes.
Is disabling Dashicons in Vectro free or Pro?
Yes, Disabling Dashicons is free. It is included in the free Vectro plugin on WordPress.org with no account required.
Will disabling Dashicons break my theme icons?
It will if your theme uses Dashicons for front-end elements such as menu arrows, search buttons or social icons, because those will render as empty boxes for logged-out visitors. Check your site logged out after enabling and turn the feature off if icons disappear.
